MY GOAL AS A GLASSWORKER
&
ARTIST
My goal, simply, is to execute well crafted, blown & sculptural glass objects, while assisting other artists or fabricating my own designs.
 

PROFESSIONAL & GLASSWORKING EXPERIENCE
2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009 - SUMMER
PILCHUCK GLASS SCHOOL - STANWOOD WASHINGTON
Flatshop Coordinator and in 2008 also Hotshop Tech on Summer Staff

Enjoying the energetic feast of experience and energy that is Pilchuck, while maintaining & supporting instructors, activities, and fixing problems that would arise.

2007 - 2009
BARK STUDIO, BRAD SELLS SHOP ASSISTANT
Roughing out forms, and general exposure to methods of working in a medium i was unfamiliar with.

Working with Brad Sells was an education on it's own. As a fine artist, he is a role model. His work speaks for itself.

2006 - SUMMER
JIM MONGRAIN - MUKILTEO, WASHINGTON
Free Guy

Worked with Jim in the hot shop, and helped with a chandelier cold work and installation. Charged the Furnace, changed out all the glass in the furnace twice, rolled color bars, product packing and anything else Jim needed or wanted.

2004 - 2009
FOCUS ON FINE CRAFT PROGRAM
Instructor

An outreach to bring awareness and education of art and craft to those in the area that do not normally have access to facilities or instruction, a great opportunity for student and instructor alike.
Teaching grades 5 - 7 basic technique and skills.
Wrangling students grades 8 - 12 into more advance focus and intensive instruction.

Fourteen years working production glass sculpting in the family business. Developed a working knowledge of the material
Traveled to various cities promoting and selling the product.
Integral to development of at least fourteen designs still sold from the wholesale line
Profits from my designs account for at least 21 - 40% of total sales per quarter

2001 - 2004
BOROSILICATE PRODUCTION WORK - LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY
I owned my own torch studio and store front.

Selling functional borosilicate objects of this type only teased me, I needed something more fulfilling so I decided to pursue a degree in Fine Arts.

2002 - WINTER
MILON TOWNSEND'S STUDIO/FARM - ROCHESTER, NEW YORK
Apprenticeship

Began a foundation for sculptural Borosilicate manipulation as Milon's first apprentice Focused on lampworking and technique

Reward for my time and energy into helping with the program and teaching the children something they are not normally exposed to.
Also for helping with FACCT funtions and donating work to auctions and sales, which contribute to other scholarships for students.

Anthony Lamas wanted jelly fish, but he is happy that there are now seven unique Octolights hanging above Seviche's bar in Louisville's East End.

First Installation of my Design

Light fixtures and hanging sculptures reside in a comfortable lounge that serves food and drink. Sculptures are part of a private collection on temporary display.
