Why i do
what i do
&
my love of process
Art to me is a universal truth that humanity as individuals experience in many ways on a daily basis. One might view a sunset in a certain manner (to be trite), or may find energy in the movement and flow of people and traffic, on their way to an artfully prepared meal, while a loved one is going through surgery at the hands of a doctor whose very movements and mannerisms are a symphony in and of themselves. All of these examples are art.
I love working with my hands and my greatest challenge is to bring into reality what exists in my mind's eye. I love process and often desire the unattainable and to do in my life what others have not. Working to find what is universally appealing, but has never been done before. Sometimes re-contextualizing surroundings, or simply a nook in someone's life.
When we hear a song we like, i believe that we have something in common with the maker of that song. The emotion we feel is because their is a common bond between the listener and the composer.
For me, being an artist is finding the people that have something in common with me. When you view my work and experience a sensation or emotion or both, I believe it is because there is a deep bond between you and me. Even though we walk different paths in life, there is something that brings us together.
As an artist, this is what drives me to exhibit work, to potentially meet individuals that have a passion and fire not much unlike my own. Hopefully my work can encouraged others to think or see in a way that they might have not thought or seen before.
